About the Event
The Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society, Inc. presents the “Diaspora, Reflection, Relaxation and Celebration by the Sea on Sapelo Island, GA,” a fundraising event which will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 9:30 to 5 pm. This celebration was conceived to bring awareness of the African Diaspora and its direct relationship to the descendants on Sapelo Island. This one day event will be comprised of educational forums, gourmet foods prepared by Island Chefs, a drumming circle, day long children and teen activities, an annual volleyball competition and other activities.
We recognize and celebrate the contributions and accomplishments of the people of African descent and their rich legacy that has been deposited and is still being deposited throughout the world. We invite people from all over the world to participate in this celebration.
